FAQs
Got Questions about Our Law School Admissions Consulting? We've Got Answers.
What is Law School Consultants and how can it help me?
Law School Consultants is a one-on-one coaching service that helps law school applicants craft compelling, polished personal statements and admissions essays. With guidance from an experienced lawyer and writing coach, you can present your strongest story to admissions committees.
Why is the personal statement so important for law school admissions?
Your personal statement is often the deciding factor when admissions officers compare applicants with similar LSAT scores and GPAs. A strong, sincere, and well-written essay can distinguish you from other candidates.
How is Law School Consultants different from other law school admissions services?
Unlike large operations that charge high fees, this service is affordable, focused, and personal. You work directly with Joseph J. O’Brien Jr.—an experienced attorney, writer, and writing teacher—rather than with anonymous editors or part-time reviewers.
What does the service include?
The core package includes detailed editing of four drafts of your personal statement, plus one-on-one consultations after each round of revisions. Additional support for diversity statements, resumes, and supplemental essays is available if needed.
How much does it cost to work with Law School Consultants?
The complete personal statement package costs $750. If you need further support beyond the package—such as editing a diversity statement, resume, or additional essays—services are available at $100 per hour.
Do I have to pay for an initial consultation?
No. The initial call is free so you can discuss your goals and determine if this is the right fit for your needs before committing.
Who will I be working with directly?
You’ll work one-on-one with Joseph J. O’Brien Jr., a licensed attorney (NY Bar), retired trial lawyer, JAG officer, and experienced writing coach with years of teaching and editing experience.
Can you help with other law school application materials besides the personal statement?
Yes. While the focus is on personal statements, assistance is also available for resumes, diversity statements, and other required law school essays.
How long does the process usually take?
The timeline depends on how quickly you turn drafts around, but most applicants complete their personal statement in 2–4 weeks through four rounds of detailed editing and consultation.
Is your service only for first-time applicants, or can re-applicants also benefit?
Both. Whether this is your first application cycle or you are re-applying, strengthening your personal statement can significantly improve your chances.
Do you work with applicants nationwide?
Yes. Law School Consultants works with students across the U.S. through phone and online consultations.
Why should I choose Law School Consultants instead of doing it myself?
Many applicants underestimate how admissions readers view their essays. Having an experienced lawyer and writing coach review your statement ensures clarity, focus, and professionalism—giving you the confidence your application stands out.
